- Legend of Mt Zu -

 

You may find brand new pictures from Legend of Mt Zu at Hong Kong Cinema Magic. Appears to have brilliant cinematography and fantastic special effects. Hope the storyline is as great as too. Wu Jing is the one in brown, with shaven head, and carrying a sword.

- Storm Riders TV Series (Literally Wind and Cloud) -

 

Zhao Wen-Zhuo shall be starring in Storm Riders TV Series which will begin filming in March. It is a joint production between Singapore, Taiwan and Hong Kong. Hopefully, Zhao Wen-Zhuo's wushu talent is not undermined this time, as in Fang Shiyu TV Series.

- SEA Games 2001 -

 

Weng Qinghai, the pride of Singapore's Wushu Team and now an actor with TCS, hopes to get three months leave later this year so that he may concentrate in intensive martial arts training and take part in the upcoming South East Asian Games to be held on September in Malaysia. It was said that he was given some pointers by Wu Jing years back when he went to China for a few months of training. Maybe he could also go overseas and work with the martial arts stars in China and better martial arts choreographers to develop his potential in doing more convincing on-screen martial arts.

 

 

- TCS Programme Highlights of the Month -

 

Jackie Chan Animation has finally made it to Singapore and will be be aired on every Saturday morning on Central from 13 Jan onwards.

Jackie Chan's Drunken Master is going to be aired slightly after midnight on 28 Jan (or more precisely, 29 Jan).

Jet Li's My Father is A Hero - 25 Jan, 2.30 p.m.

Stephen Chow's The Tricky Master - 25 Jan, 8 p.m.

- The Sword of the Third Young Master -

 

Er Dongsheng (Derek Yee) has plans to produce a remake of a kung-fu movie of the late 70s, The Sword of the Third Young Master (based on the Gu Long's novel, I suppose). He intends to get Tsui Hark to direct the film, a Japanese actor as Xie Xiaofeng, the Third Young Master of the Sword Manor, and Leslie Cheung to be Yan Shi-San, the merciless but not wicked swordsman who wishes to defeat Xie Xiaofeng in order to be the top pugilist. And the actress of his choice is none other than Zhang Ziyi.

- Metamorphosis of Heavenly Silkworm TV Series -

 

Wu Jing is reprising the role of Yun Fei-Yang, played formerly by Xu Shao-Qiang, in the new Metamorphosis of Heavenly Silkworm TV series while Xu Shao-Qiang was invited to be Yun Fei-Yang's master. In order to give the audience a fresh, new look to the series, Wu Jing is also involved in choreographing the action of high difficulty.

 

 

- Rush Hour II -

 

Zhang Ziyi, may be playing a villainess in Rush Hour 2. Returning to the sequel are Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker, along with director Brett Ratner. As this film is set in both Hong Kong and America, Zhang Ziyi shall be speaking Chinese instead of English.

 

 

- Flying Dragon, Jumping Tiger -

 

In this Sammo Hung's spoof to Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, Fan Siu Wong and Jade Leung are playing lovers who turn out to be siblings.

 

 

- Legend of Mt Zu -

 

Tsui Hark's Legend of Mt Zu movie is scheduled for summer 2001 release. Apparently, two or three months after its completion, Tsui Hark had some of the scenes re-shot for he was not satisfied with them.

 

 

- Born to Defence -

 

TCS is broadcasting Jet Li's Born to Defence on 22 Dec, 11.30 pm.

 

 

- Golden Horse Awards -

 

Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, which was made with US$15 Million, has won the following Golden Horse Awards:

Best Picutre, Best Action Choreography - Yuen Wo Ping, Best Original Score, Best Music Effects, Best Visual Effects, and Best Film Editing.

- Wu Jing's upcoming TV series -

 

Ce Ma Xiao Xi Feng (Whipped Horse Roaring Amid the West Wind) - based on two of Gu Long's novels (also starring Yu Rong Guang), and possibly The New Legend of Mt Zu TV series (also starring He Jia Jun).

 

Fee Tang Production's Tian Can Bian (Metamorphosis of Heavenly Silkworm) has begun production in 15 Nov. Could it be a remake of the ATV's classic starring Xu Shao-Qiang (Chui Siu Keung) made nearly two decades ago?

 

 

- Warriors -

 

Zhang Zi-Yi of Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon fame, is currently filming a Korean-made movie, Warriors (A possible English title). The only non-Korean star in this movie which is set in China's historical period, she is playing a princess, the daughter of the first Ming Dynasty Emperor, Zhu Yuan-Zhang.

 

 

- Rush Hour II -

 

Zhang Zi-Yi is very likely going to star in Jackie Chan's Rush Hour II, which will begin production anytime soon. After completion of the Korean-made movie, she is flying to America to discuss with Jackie and the director about her role, and to polish up her English.

- Hua Mu Lan -

 

TCS will start airing Hua Mu Lan on every Sunday 4.30 pm from 29 Oct onwards. About a heroine who disguises herself as a male to serve the army in place of her father. Starring Anita Yuen, Zhao Wen-Zhuo, Jian En-Jun, Guan Li-Jie, Zheng Pei-Pei.

 

 

- Legend of Zu -

 

The character Wu Jing is playing in Legend of Zu is Lian Xing, who comes into being when two disciples, troubled by affairs of the heart, are unable to concentrate and combine forces using the Green Sword and the Purple Sword. Lian Xing is chivalrous and righteous but not an especially good fighter.

 

 

- Korea's Martial Arts Movie -

 

Korea's first martial arts movie, Bichunmo, shall have the martial arts choreographing team, led by Ching Siu Tung, from Tsui Hark's Swordsman to direct the action.

 

 

- Black Mask 2 -

 

Black Mask 2's lead actor, An Zhi-Jie, is an American Chinese who is zealous in wushu. He met a Hong Kong action director who was filming in US last year, introduced himself and beseeched to be the director's protege, and finally got into the showbiz.

 

 

- Huo Yuan Jia -

 

Huo Yuan Jia TV series has begun filming in September. The 30 episode series took 3 years of preparation before they had everything finalised.

 

When interviewed, Zhao Wen Zhuo said, "The kung-fu will be more deadly and powerful than Huan Yuan Jia's Huo Yuan-Shen series of the 80s, and the fights more authentic than those Hong Kong and Taiwanese productions where everyone was flying around everywhere. The production also includes another four national wushu champions"

 

They've hired the script writer for Romance of the Three Kingdoms TV series to write the script and invited director of Shanghai Blues drama serial, Li Yuan Ke, to take charge of the filming.

 

It is said to have a lively storyline involving the royalty and there will be some heart-wrenching moments. They hope to get Huan Yuan-Shen to act as Huo Yuan Jia's father. Fan Bin Bin, best known as the maid, Jin Suo, in My Fair Princess TV series based on Qiong Yao's novel, is playing the role of Princess Qi Yun who has just returned from schooling in France, and being much influenced by the western ideas and culture, causes quite a bit of funny commotions. She meets Huo Yuan Jia by chance and falls for him but he is already in love with someone else.

 

Zhao Wen Zhuo also commented that he was very satisfied with script and was confident about portraying well his role as Huo Yuan Jia. However, he also blurted out, "Why is the princess' portion more than Huo Yuan Jia's. Are we filming a TV series on Huo Yuan Jia or the princess? Aren't, you a little biased, Boss?"
