I am a Monk. The Universe is My Home

So, most of the people call an enlightened person a Buddha. If he doesn't know beyond the Second Level, he would probably feel very proud about it. Yes, thinking that he is a living Buddha and his disciples would be very proud calling him Buddha. But actually if he only achieves the Second Level in which he can see through the past, present and future of any person he chooses to see and in which he has an absolute eloquence of speech, then it's not yet the end of the Kingdom of God. ~ The Mystery of the World Beyond, by the Supreme Master Ching Hai

This writer had no clue as to the number of times Jet used "doesn't matter" in his speeches. Perhaps he spoke it frequently, that's why this English phrase was used so often.

Fame - Doesn't matter.

Life and Death - Doesn't matter

XXX - Doesn't matter.

He has to stay in China to shoot Hero for the second half of 2001 - Doesn't matter. His reply was still the same.

"If you understand my philosophies on life, it doesn't matter whether I am in United States of America, Hong Kong or China. Like the monks in the temple, I stay home the whole day. "

"At home? Being a house-husband?" provoked a reporter.

He replied solemnly, "Not really. For the past one to two years, I have been contemplating on the value of human life, on the origin of the universe, on what leads to people's suffering from the Buddhist points of views. A good martial artist should also be a wise person. If you lack wisdom, you are but a brash fighter who fights for no rhyme or reason and that's not very sensible. I like studying philosophies, so my thinking have become broader. If you understand Buddhism, then there is nothing that could surprise you."

He's so full of drive when talking about philosophies and Buddhism, not affording chance for anyone to interrupt him.

"So, you're above worldly pleasures?"

"In the past, I used to reflect on lots of things. But now, I have plenty of free time since the last two years that I have been staying in America. I started reading lots of books and discovered that there are plenty of my thinking which can be found in Buddhist scriptures. This means that my affinity with Buddhism is not developed just in this time."

Everything is pre-destined. He believes he has already been aware of what the future holds for him.

"Ten years ago, someone had predicted to me when I would be married, what I should do at what time, including that I would arrive at Hollywood when I was 36, and when my career would be successful. I knew all these ten years ago. However, no one believed me when I told them.

"In that case, can you tell us yourself 10 years later?"

"Of course I can't say it out, but I know. Actually, I am not a superstitious person. People who don't comprehend may misunderstand, but I do indeed have such a feeling. As you can see, I always know which side my bread is buttered on; I have solid planning for the past years, knowing what step to take."

Jet's Dissemination of Buddhism

Karma is a Sanskrit term for the law of "As you sow so shall you reap," which is the law of the lower universe. When the Master gives you initiation, he pulls you up further. Therefore, the karma downstairs can be burned and does not affect you. He just leaves a little bit for you to carry on this life, which is already smoothed out and lubricated by the Master's power. After initiation, you have no more stored karma, so you don't have to be reborn again, if you don't want to. If you want to be reborn again, it is very easy. We can create karma or we can borrow it from many sentient beings to come down. Initiation is the destroying of all karma in the past, leaving no more opportunity for the beings to come back in the future. ~ Supreme Master Ching Hai

The mundane matters aside, the current topics were true love, karma, past and previous lives, etc.

"If you don't truly understand what love is, love can also be a form of suffering."

Yes.

"You can never deceive yourself, for the script for your next life is written in this life..."

Everyone nodded in agreement.

"I believe in reincarnation, for the materials in this universe neither generate nor disintegrate."

"You should do The Mummy," someone jested.

He pondered over it seriously: "Hmmm... There are some differences between this mummy and religion."

"What you said is very profound."

"Not really, it's very simple..." he explained

Everyone was listening attentively and the interview seemed to be nearing its end.

A reporter from neighbouring country asked for his autograph, saying it's going to be published on the paper.

"What would you add to it?" Someone asked and the reporter was caught unawares and was stammering.

Jet spoke in a friendly manner, "Every reporter wishes to be different, would emphasise certain phrases to attract certain readers, and thus coming up with different reports. If I were to add anything to it, I would be arbitrarily voicing my views on a report I have yet to see. Although it's my speech, but according to one's understanding, what one writes would not be the same... As such, if it's for personal use, then it doesn't matter."

Aye, we understood. Of course, we did.

Reincarnation is a return cycle. If you have not found an exit leading you to paradise, you must go back. Just like on a freeway, if you cannot find the exit, you must return in order to find it. This is reincarnation.

                                                                       ... ...

The theory of reincarnation should not be taught, because we don't have an entity to reincarnate. What reincarnates perhaps are these clinging tendencies to the information we got, whether bad or good, and then that clinging tendency will go and find one instrument after another to satisfy our longing that we did not complete from our previous so-called birth. After the knowledge, the Wisdom or the God-Self that resides in this body leaves this temple, he or she will pass to another temple. It is like going from one church to another, we are still the same person. Actually, in the universe there is no one entity that exists. There is a mass of energy and a loving field, but sometimes it is divided into different sections. It is just like the electric current that is in the bulbs, in the wire, in the microphone in different shapes. It is in the refrigerator, a different shape again, and in the electric fan, but the inside current is the exact same thing. ~ Supreme Master Ching Hai
